December 1974 A dull mid-winter's day in South Yorkshire and a dmu for Hull enters Stainforth & Hatfield station from Doncaster to the south - note the steam-age red tail lamp - next stop Thorne North. The station and four track main line dates from the Great Central Railway's 1912 rebuild. The entrance was via the lane on the extreme right as it is today to the recently rebuilt station. That lane runs down from the Stainforth to Hatfield road just past the bridge from which the photo was taken in December 1974. Hatfield colliery's infrastructure looms over the scene and the railway & yards look like hives of activity. Pete LG99.
A Derby Heavyweight set arrives at Stainforth & Hatfield Station in South Yorkshire on 19th April 1976. This station was of MSLR/Great Central Railway origin and located on the four track main line just west of Thorne Junction. The GCR signal box is Stainforth Junction. Pete LG99.
A three-car Class 101 departing Stainforth & Hatfield station, date unknown. The domino headcode on the Class 31 in the distance suggests late 1970s - DMBS E50157 (with Manchester on the destination blind) would be painted blue/grey in October 1980. Stuart Mackay Collection.
A view of Stainforth and Hatfield station from a Met-Camm on a railtour in 1978, very probably the RCTS 'Torksey Railtour' on October 28th. John Law.
A four-car Class 123/4 hybrid heads away from the camera led by a Class 114. They are departing from Stainforth and Hatfield heading toward Hull/Cleethorpes, the slide process date is September 1983. Stuart Mackay Collection.
